Knowledge and Experience

• Seventeen years studying and working with plants.
  After a professional career, my business began in Provence, France in 1989 before relocating to Kent in 1992. I have employed up to five staff.
  
  
• The creation of scores of gardens in Kent.
  Design and planting as well as plant care accounts for most of the business turnover. Small, medium and large gardens feature equally.
  
  
• Particular expertise in the use of dry bed shrubs.
  Dry bed shrubs have appealed over the years because they need little looking after but provide spectacular effects all year round.
  
  
• Experience of landscaping in very dry terrain.
  The experience gained in Provence included very challenging situations where most of the annual rainfall would arrive in a couple of rainstorms.
  
  
• Attention to all year colour using flower and foliage.
  The range of plants providing all year colour is wide and despite coming from hotter countries, they do well in Kent.
  
  
• Thorough knowledge of green sands and wealden clays.
  The wealden clays are demanding because drainage is poor and nutrients are locked in, unlike greensand which drains easily.
  
  
• Use of local area and garden 'micro climates' to improve results.
  The science of applying plants to their favourite environment is vital for success as is the use of microclimates which most gardens have.
